Studying for one of The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification examinations is a large commitment, but first there’s the application procedure. Documenting your expertise can be a challenging task. The IIBA demands a specific number of overall business analysis experience hours in addition to specific experience hours in a number of the knowledge areas listed in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK). Professional development hours will also be required. Here’s the breakdown:

  • The Certificate of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) requires 3750 hours of business analysis experience in the past 7 decades. Additionally, it requires 900 hours in two knowledge areas or 500 hours in four knowledge areas.
  • The Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) exam requires 7500 hours of business analysis experience in the past ten years in addition to 900 hours in four knowledge areas.
  • Both examinations require 21 hours of professional development in the past four decades.

A good time to begin Assessing your hours of experience is as soon as you decide you are interested in certification. You will have to track hours individually for each project you have worked on. So as to meet the criteria on the IIBA certificate applications, you will need the following information:

Business Analytics Training

  • Project Name and description
  • A job contact – your supervisor, job owner or the project supervisor
  • Start and finish dates for the project
  • Total hours spent on BA work throughout the project
  • Of the total hours, how many fall into each of the six BABOK knowledge areas

After you have done Some first recording of all your BA work by project, you are able to evaluate the following to determine if you are ready to apply for certificate:

  • Do you have enough time to be eligible for one of those certificates? Otherwise, will you have enough in the next two weeks?
  • Does your breakdown by knowledge area meet the minimum requirements for the examination that you would like to apply for?
  • Can you fulfill the professional development requirements for this program?
  • Perhaps you have ever read the certification handbook on the IIBA site for the exam that you would like to apply for?
  • Have you read through the BABOK at least once?
  • Can you have two references that would be happy to recommend you for company analysis certification? They need to be career supervisors, clients or present CBAP certification holders.

If You Cannot answer Yes to all these questions, it is ideal to postpone starting your cbap training certificate program until you can. You have to take the exam within one year from when your application is accepted. However, it is ideal to take it within six months so you have sufficient time to take it before your application expires if you do not pass on the first attempt.
